Somalia: United Arab Emirates Condemns Death of Offshore Oil Tanker Crew off Somali Coast

Abu Dhabi — The United Arab Emirates condemned the attack that caused deaths and injuries among members of the crew of the seized oil tanker MT Honour 25, off the coast of Somalia, during an operation to liberate the vessel.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that these criminal acts threaten maritime security and the safety of international trade routes.
The United Arab Emirates also reiterated its appeal for greater regional and international cooperation to protect commercial vessels and ensure the safety of their crews.
The ministry also expressed the nation's solidarity with the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery for all the injured.
According to Reuters, five members of the crew were killed and four were injured among the 17 personnel on board during the rescue mission.
